Maiya Sinclair is a filmmaker, scholar, and speaker based out of Chicago, IL. She is currently working on her Master’s in Critical Ethnic Studies, Public Policy and Women and Gendered Studies at DePaul University.

As a Critical Race Scholar and Filmmaker she works to correct, create and share the narratives of Black Women around the world. She began her film career in 2015 as a Production Coordinator and made her debut as a Producer in 2019 at the Bronze Lens Festival in Atlanta where her critically acclaimed feature documentary, Black Feminist, premiered as an official selection. Femme Noir is Maiya Sinclair’s first solo produced, shot and directed film that explores the idea of free Black Womanhood.

Outside of filmmaking Maiya hosts workshops, lectures, and events surrounding Critical Race and Black Feminist Theory.
